Arabian mares

I received an email about 5 horses that needed to be placed because the owners were elderly people and the wife was on hospice.  Amanda (pedigree) top left, Nahrtessa (pedigree) bottom left, and FF Passion Flower (pedigree) bottom right, went into a foster home right away.  They are well on their way to a new start.  They have been wormed, hooves trimmed, and blanketed with the upcoming windchills.  Magnifikaa top center and FF Samanthaa top right, (pedigree) were picked up and Sam went into foster just down the road from the rescue. Watch as these 5 girls become the horses they were meant to be!

Rescued on March 3rd 2012.  Rinny is a 20 year old Arabian gelding said to be broke to ride and we found out he truly is.  He needed some weight and is now ready to find his own person. Rinny & Gypsy came in together.

Gypsy is a 23 year old Registered Half Arabian mare.  She is also broke to ride but she needs to gain a lot more weight before we will be able to try her out.  Gypsy & Rinny came in together

Misty is a 20 some year old mare we took in.  Her person sadly passed away leaving Misty to a very caring son who wanted the best for Misty and so contacted us to see if we would take her in.  We did and she has been placed in a very loving home with another arthritic horse.

Jag is an 18 year old Arabian gelding owner surrender on March 6, 2011. He will be in our weight management program  and after he has gained the much needed weight his riding ability will be evaluated.   He is not currently available for adoption.

Razzy is a 9 year old Arabian mare.  She has some trust issues and needs to put on some weight.

Aladin is a 5 year old Arabian.  Thank you Laura H

Thank you Josh for doing what was best for your horses.  Thank you also for the large square bale of hay and for being such a huge help in our efforts.

Thank you Faith & Katie for not giving up on these three.    _____________________________________________________________________

 Quadruple Rescue

Blaze is 1 of 4 horses surrendered by owner on November 30, 2010.  He is a 5 year old quarter/thoroughbred gelding.  He is 15.1HH and weighs only 890 lbs.  He is not broke to ride and hasn't had much if any ground work done.  He is currently in our weight management program. He will be available for adoption once he is healthier. His brother is below. Update 2/25 Blaze is 903 lbs now!

Dusty is an 8 year old grade quarter horse gelding. He is in our weight management program and after he has had a chance to gain back some weight, we will evaluate his training.  We are told he is broke to ride. He is Blaze's brother. He will be available for adoption once he is healthier, has had farrier work done, and we get the chance to see just what he knows. Dusty had his teeth floated 1/26/2011 and this will hopefully be the trick to him gaining more weight. He is 15HH and weighs just 834 lbs.  Update:  Dusty is now 916 lbs (2/25/2011)

This boy is  "cute as a Button!" He's a 5 year old grade brown & white paint gelding, the 3rd owner surrender. He's very gentle and we are told he is broke to ride.  He is currently in foster care and is ready for his new home.  Click the link below to see his new pictures.  If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an application.  He's on the smaller side at around 13HH so will make a very sweet  4-H or beginner horse.

Updated Photots of Button

Sweet Ginger (registered name) is a 4 year old registered American Painted horse solid. The 4th of the owner surrenders.  She is not broke to ride. She neeeds some farrier work and more weight and is currently in foster care.  Ginger is now available for adoption, see current photos in her photo album

Chance is a 16 year old registered appaloosa gelding. His sire is Goer and his dam is Wise Owl Fawn. He is currently on our weight management program. We will evaluate his training once he's a bit healthier.

Please see our sponsored horse page to find out more about his official sponsors.

Simba is a 5 month old paint colt.  He was born with juvenile cataracts and is unable to see.  His breeder did not wish to keep him alive and he was saved by Kasandra who found BTFL and we brought him to our safe place.

  UPDATE:  10/21/2010:

It is with heavy heart that I inform everyone that Simba is not a candidate for surgery. The damage to his eyes is more severe than expected and 2 vets agreed that the surgery would only give him a 30% chance of seeing and that vision would not be very good.  The lens would have to be replaced and there is only one size lens and it would not fit correctly in his eyes, therefore leaving him seeing blurry, double, or what not.  The surgery could even kill him, should he end up with any type of infection.  Simba will remain with us and live a full, happy, long, life and as soon as he is old enough, he will be broke to ride.  Thank you to all his contributors and everyone that has given us a bit of hope.  Special thanks to JAKEFEST, TOTO, and Linda Morales for making his surgery almost happen.

A special "THANK YOU" to Kasandra for saving Simba and finding him his new home!

A special thank you below to all the wonderful, generous people who not only donated towards Simba's surgery but also were kind enough to allow us to keep the donation after finding out Simba was no longer a candidate for surgery.  These acts of generosity will allow us not only to get Simba set up for his life long home here at the rescue but to help other horses in need as well! Great Job Everyone
